Cedefop announced the results of the #CedefopPhotoAward 2020 competition. The winners were students of vocational schools from Poland, Greece, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

#CedefopPhotoAward is a competition organized by the European Center for the Development of Vocational Training, targeting teams of students from vocational schools and other vocational education and training institutions (initial or continuing) in the European Union, Norway and Iceland. Its aim is to promote excellence in vocational education and training (VET) within and outside the European Union. The students were asked to prepare an original photo report on: "Vocational education and training: a story about your green or digital skills". More about the contest.

43 teams from 13 European countries took part in the competition, including 143 students and 39 teachers / trainers representing 34 educational institutions.

For the top award two teams were nominated - from Poland ("NTZDZOpatów" team from the Gen. W. Anders Non-Public Technical School in Opatów) and Greece ("Digital & green waves" team from the 2nd VET School of Thessaloniki - OAED).

The winning project from Poland Dream, work hard and reach for the sky was prepared by the students: Jakub Kordyka, Maciej Gawron, Bartłomiej Kordos and Krystian Gawlik, who study to become IT technicians. But they argue that their school isn’t only about that: ‘The technical classes, although mandatory, are combined with education, passion, exercising initiative in IT, and the best apprenticeship to start our future! The photos, taken by students from the school photography club, present the results of programming, robotics and e-sport. These pictures depict the mission of maintaining your identity in a world of chameleons – always being yourself and not getting lost in the MATRIX. Computer science gives us power, it helps us learn and play, but it’s the human mind that’s always superior.’

The awards will be presented during a virtual ceremony at the European Vocational Skills Week 2020 (November 9-13).

The top spot will be decided via an online public vote organized by the European Commission. To cast your vote visit: VET Excellence Awards 2020: Online voting.

This year's Prix du jury goes to the "ZALA" team from the Higher School of Nursing and Medical Lyceum in Ústí nad Labem, Czech Republic, and the winners of the new video award are the Slovak SUPSTARS team from the Vocational Art School Jakobyho 15.
